Many of you would have known Andrée Steel, a founding board member of the Canadian Sport Tourism Alliance (CSTA) and our President from 2003 – 2004. Sadly, Andrée passed away recently, and CSTA extends sincere condolences to her husband, Don Adams, CEO of Motivate Canada and her family.

As Vice President of Sales and Marketing at Ottawa Tourism, Andrée was instrumental in the development of CSTA. Her vision and passion for seeing sport tourism grow in Canada was a tremendous asset in our early years, and she provided outstanding leadership as our President during her term.  Most recently Andrée continued to serve the greater Ottawa community as the President and CEO of the Royal Ottawa Foundation for Mental Health.

“Andrée was very proud of seeing the impact of the CSTA and how it has grown into such a strong advocate for sport tourism in Canada,” said Rick Traer. “She was one of the pioneer leaders in a fledgling industry, and we are grateful for the guidance she provided in those early days. She had many, many friends in the sport and tourism communities, and our sympathies are extended to her husband Don and family.”

Friends of Andrée Steel are invited to attend a celebration of her life.
