Changes to the 2019 Awards

As always, the PRESTIGE Awards stay current, and adjust categories and criteria to remain up-to-date. Two categories have had slight name changes, to better reflect activities and programs.

The CSTA Canadian Sport Event Sponsorship Initiative of the Year Award, presented by Adup Display, broadens out the definition of sponsorship activities to provide a wider scope for nominations.

The CSTA Sport Event Legacy of the Year Award, presented by ConnectOnCampus, continues to recognize sustainable events and environmental stewardship, but incorporates any demonstrable legacy of an event in its community.

Although no name change this year, the CSTA Sport Tourism Organization of the Year Award, presented by WestJet, features updated questions in its nomination form to help define the organization who initiated the most impact through increased visitor attractions, positive athlete experience, community engagement, unique local collaborations, legacies, and increased local volunteerism as a result of sport event hosting.

The recipients in these categories, along with the:

  • CSTA Canadian Sport Event of the Year Award, presented by Québec Destination affaires
    • Group A: event budget greater than $1 million
    • Group B: event budget less than $1 million
  • CSTA International Sport Event of the Year Award, presented by CBC Sports
  • CSTA Sport Event Volunteer of the Year Award, presented by Edmonton Events
  • CSTA Sport Tourism Rising Star of the Year Award

will be announced in Ottawa at Sport Events Congress, on Wednesday, March 20, 2019 at the PRESTIGE Awards Presentation, presented by Saskatoon Sports Tourism. It will be followed by a networking reception and luncheon presented by IHG. Ticket info can be found here.

Nomination guidelines and award categories are online here.
