Sport Tourism Canada is joining in the celebration of tourism in Canada during Tourism Week, May 29 – June 4. Get ready to Unleash the Power of Events!
As the fastest growing sector of Canada’s tourism industry, we want to celebrate the recovery, the resilience and the reimagining of sport tourism across the country.
The theme for the week is Travel Now: For Work, Life, and Play! This is the perfect time to tell our story. From entrepreneurial events rights holders to creative destinations and hosts, to the dedicated education members and passionate suppliers, we have amazing stories of what sport tourism has done for communities, for athletes young and old, and for the economy of towns, provinces and our nation.
We know #SportTourismMatters.
In 2019, it was the fastest growing sector of the entire tourism industry, over $7.4 billion spent by domestic and international visitors. And now in 2022, sport tourism is resurging across the country, from local grassroots events to major international championships being awarded to Canada as a host nation.
Celebrate how beneficial sport tourism is, from providing home field advantage to our Canadian athletes, to improving local sport facilities, and welcoming competitors and visitors abroad back to our communities! Use the suite of messages and materials in our toolkit that has been designed specifically for promoting sport tourism during Tourism Week 2022.
