Cycling Canada’s CEO and General Secretary, Greg Mathieu, along with Lia Taha Cheng, Manager, Sport and International Programs for U Sports, are the winners of $250 VIA Rail travel credits courtesy of VIA Rail Canada and Nuit Blanche organizers.

This comes as a perfectly timed gift for Mathieu, a veteran national sport administrator, as he is retiring at the end of the year. Prior to Cycling, Mathieu was Director of Operations for the COC and Executive Director of Wrestling Canada. “This was a very nice surprise, and I’ll actually have time to use it” joked Mathieu. "I’m looking forward to seeing many friends and colleagues at the Brookstreet Hotel on December 8th then fitting in some travel next year between all the projects at home I’ve been putting off”. For Cheng, this will be an opportunity to be back in Ottawa with a few colleagues given that the U Sports recently moved its headquarters to the GTA.

With just over a week away, over 20 National Sport Federations, Sport Canada and related sport organizations have confirmed attendance for this annual event that brings the sport community together for a year-end celebration.

For those yet to confirm their tickets, the deadline to order is this Friday, December 2nd. To order please contact Kelly Weiss at [email protected].

Nuit Blanche — Blame it on Rio! is co-presented by the Canadian Sport Tourism Alliance and CBC Sports and brought to you by iSPARK Consulting and Baslaw + Associates Inc.
